Ammonia or azane is a compound of nitrogen and hydrogen with the formula NH3. The simplest pnictogen hydride, ammonia is a colourless gas with a characteristic pungent smell. It is a common nitrogenous waste, particularly among aquatic organisms, and it contributes significantly to the nutritional needs of terrestrial organisms by serving as a precursor to food and fertilizers. Ammonia is a colourless alkaline gas and is one of the most abundant nitrogen-containing compounds in the atmosphere.

Ammonium hydroxide NH4OH is the hydroxy salt of ammonium ion. It is formed when ammonia reacts with water molecules in solution. Ammonium hydroxide is a colorless aqueous solution.

Industrial Uses:

Triethanolamine (TEA) is a viscous organic compound that is both a tertiary amine and a triol. A triol is a molecule with three alcohol groups. Triethanolamine is a strong base. It is a colourless compound although samples may appear yellow because of impurities. Triethanolamine is used primarily in making surfactants, such as for emulsifier. It is a common ingredient in formulations used for both industril and consumer products.

Applications:

Diethanolamine often abbreviated as DEA or DEOA, is an organic compound with the formula HN(CH2CH2OH)2. Pure diethanolamine is a white solid at room temperature, but its tendency to absorb water and to supercool mean it is often encountered as a colorless, viscous liquid.

Aluminium sulfate is a chemical compound with the formula Al2(SO4)3. It is soluble in water and is mainly used as a coagulating agent in the purification of drinking water and waste water treatment plants, and also in paper manufacturing. Aluminium sulfate is used in water purification and as a mordant in dyeing and printing textiles. In water purification, it causes suspended impurities to coagulate into larger particles and then settle to the bottom of the container (or be filtered out) more easily. This process is called coagulation or flocculation.

It is used as a reagent for the synthesis of organic compounds. Potassium permanganate is used extensively in the water treatment industry. It is used to treat drinking water for iron, manganese and sulfur odours. It can be used as a disinfectant as well, keeping drinking water free of harmful bacteria. It is a strong oxidizing agent. Side effects of potassium permanganate are irritation of the skin and discoloration of clothing.

Silica Gel is a granular, vitreous, porous form of silicon dioxide made synthetically from sodium silicate. Silica gel contains a nano-porous silica micro-structure, suspended inside a liquid. Silica gel's high specific surface area allows it to adsorb water readily, making it useful as a desiccant. In chemistry, silica gel is used in chromatography as a stationary phase. Silica gel is used as a desiccant to control local humidity to avoid spoilage or degradation of some goods.

Calcium Chloride is an inorganic compound, a salt with the chemical formula CaCl2. It is a colorless crystalline solid at room temperature, highly soluble in water. Calcium chloride is used to prevent ice formation and is used to de-ice. It is also used in domestic and industrial chemical air dehumidifiers.
