Activated Carbon is a form of carbon processed to have small, low-volume pores that increase the surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions. Activated Carbon is commonly used for removing organic constituents and residual disinfectants in water supplies. Activated carbon filtration can effectively reduce certain organic compounds and chlorine in drinking water. Activated carbon can also reduce the quantity of lead and improves taste, minimizes health hazards.

Dioctyl Phthalate (DOP) is an organic compound with the formula C₆H₄(CO₂C₈H₁₇)₂. Dioctyl phthalate is clear, colourless, viscous liquid with a slight, characteristic odor. It is soluble in ethanol, ether, mineral oil and the majority of organic solvents.
