Ethanol, also known as ethyl alcohol. Ethanol's chemical formula is C2H6O. This chemical formula can also be written as CH3CH2OH or C2H5OH.

Ethanol is a common ingredient in many cosmetics and beauty products.

It acts as an astringent to help clean skin, in lotions as a preservative and to help ensure that lotion ingredients do not separate, and in hairsprays to help the spray adhere to hair.  

Because ethanol is effective in killing microorganisms like bacteria, fungi and viruses, it is a common ingredient in many hand sanitizers.

Sodium chloride is also known as salt. is an ionic compound with the chemical formula NaCl, representing a 1:1 ratio of sodium and chloride ions. Sodium chloride is the salt most responsible for the salinity of seawater and of the extracellular fluid of many multicellular organisms. In its edible form of table salt, it is commonly used as a condiment and food preservative.

Hydrochloric acid is known as muriatic acid, is a colorless or slightly yellow liquid that is toxic and corrosive. The chemical formula for hydrochloric acid is HCl. It is the solution of hydrogen chloride in water and HCl is used synonymously for both the gaseous form and the aqueous solution. HCl is a simple diatomic molecule, with a polarized covalent bond between the hydrogen atom and the electronegative chlorine atom.
